How To Take Up The Shield Of Faith
Faith in God is the beginning of a new spiritual life. God wants everyone to be faithful, loyal and honest to His word in every aspect. Faith in God involves believing in God’s promises, relying on God’s character and trusting in His faithfulness. Abraham is considered as the Father of nation and God acknowledged the act of his faith towards God under all circumstances. God loved his Faithful people under all conditions. According to Paul, an Apostle states that
“In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.” Ephesians 6:16 New Living Translation (NLT)
The Shield of Faith is considered as the part of Armor of God mainly described in the Ephesians 6:10–17. Paul gave the Ephesians various instructions about how to live by faith and shielding from the enemy. Paul concludes about the armor of faith about the Ephesians with stating
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes” (Ephesians 6:10–11).
When Paul writes about the shield of faith along with the flaming arrows of the evil, he states that we should always live by faith and true to the words of Lord Jesus along with following every act in the daily life. Abraham listens to every step which God instructs and obeys the will of God so God was pleased to him under all circumstances and blessed him with lots of children. Like Abraham, there are many people in the Bible who have stood in the faith of God and led a blessed life. Noah is another person who stood faithful to the Lord till the end and God was pleased with his family so HE did not destroy them when the whole world was under destruction from the flood. God has plans for those who live by faith and accepts Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
What Is The Shield Of Faith?
Before talking about what is the shield of faith, we should know what faith is in the Bible. In Hebrews 11:1-2 it states that “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony”. Faith in the New Testament has been mainly translated from the “pistis” which is a Greek word. Faith has been defined by the Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary in the “firm belief.”
In simple words, faith is the most firm belief in the Promises of God.
The shield is considered as the most important for every soldier, and this provides a complete Blanket of Protection for the soldier. Under all circumstances, the shield is most essential and a barrier for every attack from the enemy. Romans in the ancient days used large shields which is not only useful for defending from the attack of the enemy but also most useful for pushing the opponent from the side. When fighting in a group, Roman soldier mainly form a shield position so that it acts as an enclosure around the soldiers, and it is called the testudo or tortoise.
This strategy is mainly helpful for protecting the enemy arrows that are launched from the cities. Normally, the ancient Shields have been made of wood then they would be covered to extinguish the arrows. Likewise, the Armor of God Faith Shield is not only used for defending ourselves from the enemy or the devil but also helpful for strengthening the faith in a more useful way. Shield of faith is considered as the first barrier against the attack from the enemy.
Christian who takes on the shield of faith mainly identified himself as the faithful foot soldier who serves as the Commander of the Lord’s army. Normally, satan’s attack could mainly lead to doubt God sometimes. But faith in God mainly makes in more prompts on further believing in the goodness of the God. When you take up the shield of faith, it helps when one is on a hard path and it is the right choice for everyone to be rest assured that Almighty God is with you.
Stopping the fiery arrows of the devil with the shield of Faith is most important. God will strengthen your faith by believing His Word—Faith cometh by hearing and by hearing the word of God. Romans 10:17 When you are strong in Faith and stay away from fear which is satans tactic—you will prevail over the enemy by fighting the good fight of faith. Pick up the shield of faith.
Another example of a man of God, Job stood by God under all circumstances. God blessed him abundantly. Even satan could not enter the life of Job because God protects him entirely. Even though God allows satan to test Job later, but Job did not leave God, and he put on the shield of faith in all destructions of his life. God blessed the life of Job abundantly even after the test.
We Have A Real Enemy:
Enemy or Satan has different names in Bible and the apostle Paul calls him “the wicked one.” Satan is evil, and nothing good comes from him. The main motive of Satan or evil one is to kill, steal, and destroy the life of man. John 10:10 One must understand that devil is not a myth, and he is a real spiritual being. The devil could take on any form and create darkness in the life of people. When you want to get rid of the devil or satan, then it is best to take up the shield of faith and use your authority as a believer to rebuke him in the name of Jesus.
- Reading the bible daily is a way of shielding ourselves from the enemy
- Meditating on the Gods Word every day is important
- Relying on the Word of God and His promise would be an efficient option for the shield of faith.
Believing every word about the promise given by God is the best way to defeat the enemies tactics. In the end, the battle is not yours it’s the Lord’s, taking on the shield of faith will provide you with the protection you need in order to fight off the devils schemes.
